8 October 2025
The upgraded CSP is a forward-looking framework which enhances our diplomatic partnership across five key pillars.
Speaking at a Joint Press Conference in Canberra, Australia, on 8 October 2025, PM Lawrence Wong and Australian PM Anthony Albanese reaffirmed Singapore and Australia’s longstanding bilateral relationship. Together, they launched the upgraded Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) 2.0, a forward-looking framework which enhances our diplomatic partnership across five key pillars.

1. Contribute to peace and stability, at home and in our region
Singapore and Australia are committed to building our collective capacity to maintain the conditions for peace and stability in the region. To do so, we will deepen collaboration in the areas of defence science and technology, military exchanges, and defence supply chains and logistics ecosystems.
2. Strengthen economic connectivity
Singapore and Australia aim to preserve and strengthen the rules-based multilateral trading system. In the face of growing economic uncertainty, the upgraded CSP will deepen economic integration and collaboration, and ensure that critical goods continue flowing between our countries, even during disruptions.
3. Accelerate our transition to net-zero
Both countries will continue to strengthen regional economic, climate, and energy resilience by expanding cooperation to achieve their respective commitments under the Paris Agreement, and seizing economic and industrial opportunities that arise from the net-zero transition.
4. Forge new frontiers
Singapore and Australia will foster and further innovation, notably in areas like cyber, digital, space, and Artificial Intelligence, health, and pandemic preparedness. This will enable us to contribute to regional prosperity and shape international standards as we harness the transformative potential of these new technologies.
5. Deepen friendships and capabilities
With closer links forged, we have seen a lifelong friendships formed from people studying, working, and living in our respective countries. With education and research forming the building blocks of innovative economies, Singapore and Australia will continue to build on our strong education partnerships.
Australia and Singapore share a common strategic perspective that is built on a deep reservoir of trust. I am confident that with this strong foundation, we can continue to chart new frontiers and deliver lasting benefits for both our peoples.— PM Lawrence Wong
