On 1st of July every year, we commemorate the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Day. It is a day to rededicate ourselves to the defence of Singapore and reflect on our roles and responsibilities to collectively keep this nation strong.
Today’s world is fraught with conflicts and threats. The ongoing Russia-Ukraine and Israel-Hamas conflicts remind us not to take peace for granted. Closer to home, the police station terror attack in Johor and cases of self-radicalisation in Singapore are reminders that the threat of terrorism remains high. Increasingly complex threats in the digital domain can also impinge on our sovereignty and security.
To ensure that it is well-prepared to meet the challenges ahead, the SAF continues to transform and enhance its capabilities. A competent SAF, together with a resilient and united Singapore citizenry, will keep us safe and strong today and into the future.
